Why go across seas to be a missionary when there is so much ministry needed here in the US?

This is the golden question asked by so many when I tell believers that I am planning to relocate my family and I across seas.

The problem is that I don’t have a good answer.

I remember as a young girl wanting to be a nurse on the mission field. At the time, my dad was making frequent trips overseas to share Jesus with unreached people in other parts of the world, specifically in Asia. He would come home with stories and picture slides (early 90’s!) sharing of how God was moving and changing hearts. We invited foreign missionaries to stay with us and would sit around the table sharing the Heart of God and the love He was visibly pouring out on all nations. (Shout out to Mr. Pappy Daniels!) He uses the simple.

Sometimes, something impossible grows, sprouts from the small, the raw….

Its wonderful to think of the fact that God can turn around a whole nation, a whole world, by using us. God uses simple things, you know that. He uses simple, mundane, everyday, routine, common things for the most amazing purposes. When He made man in the Garden, He didn’t use gold, silver, or even iron; He used dirt. That ought to give you an idea of how He works right from the start. When He called David to deliver Israel from the Philistines, He didn’t want Saul, the great king and He didn’t want Saul’s massive armor. Continue reading
