Next steps.

Hi all!

Our family has officially graduated from “boot camp” with Beautiful Feet and arrived back in our hometown. With only 9 days before we leave for our next training, we are off and running. Dental appts, unpacking, repacking, shipping, visiting with family and friends, and a fundraiser are just a taste of what we have ahead of us this week. We are excited to spend time with everyone and for the relationships that continue to build!

After our week at home, we will be driving to California to visit with more family and fly out from there for the next phase of our training in Kona. We will be studying midwifery in developing nations and sustainable living in preparation for our move overseas. Take a deeper look at our training with Gomidwife.

We have renewed vision of our ministry and know, without a doubt, that God is calling us to share Jesus with unreached peoples of the world. “Unreached”-this word has become dangerously overused and had caused slight callous to what the word “unreached” really applies to. This word has been used to talk about efforts to reach college campuses, friends, clubs, and neighborhoods. Its been used in Christian circles more often just to validate missional status quo rather than raise awareness for people groups who are entirely cut off from the gospel. Here are some of the differences in “unevangelized” and “unreached.”

Unevangelized-Most people have not personally heard the gospel but they do have access to it, with family and friends who are believers. They have at least a vague understanding of God and to know more-they would just need to show up at any dozen of churches in our towns. People in unevangelized people groups need the gospel. They need to hear it from friends, co-workers, and family. They need hope. There is always a need for more laborers but their greatest need is not for more believers in their communities, it is for the believers already there to share the gospel with them.

Unreached-The majority of people in this group have not heard the gospel because there is extremely limited public access to the message. There are no churches or believers in their communities equipped to reach them. They typically have a very flawed or nonexistent understanding of Jesus. Most of these groups of people will have never heard the gospel and will never hear it until someone intentionally crosses cultural and linguistic borders to bring the gospel. People in unreached groups need the gospel. Unless something changes, they have a slim chance of hearing it. Because access is an issue, they need more laborers, because it is very likely they will spend their entire life with no interaction with any other believers in their communities.

So-it is not necessarily an issue of people’s need for the gospel; its an issue of peoples need for access to the gospel. Everyone has a need for the gospel, but unless there are people willing to specifically relocate-there are those in this world who have zero chance of hearing it. Rev 7:9 gives us a beautiful picture of what it will look like on that day when unreached peoples will cease to exist! 🙂

So please be praying for our next steps-as we travel to California and fly to training for the next 6 months. That we will continue to have open minds, open hearts, open hands and follow where Jesus is leading. hat relationships deepen and growth happens. There are still many unknowns. Housing is an unknown in Kona…we are still looking and will be arriving on Sept 14. We are at less than half of our monthly support needed. We would love to partner with you as we continue on in training and prepare to head overseas! $20, $100, even $200-any amount helps further the ministry! Support giving information is at the bottom of this post if you would like to join in! There will be a fundraiser on Monday night, Sept 5. If you would like to be a part of this, shoot me an email or comment and ill let you know the details! 🙂

  1. I read this as my day began! Wonderful explanation of “unreached” and “un-evangelized”! So appreciative of the update on where you are in the preparation! We will continue to pray!!

Looking into our finances this afternoon to see if we can help financially.

We love you so much! We KNOW you will have a blessed reception today as you worship with your church family! They will be uplifted, educated, and encouraged!!
